Does Inkerman Medical Group take new patients?

Yes. The majority of our doctors currently take new patients.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes, you are required to book an appointment. We offer appointments Monday to Friday 8:30am -6:00pm, Saturday 9:00am- 12:00pm (first Saturday of each month) and Sunday 9:00am – 11:00am. We will always attempt to fit in emergency appointments, even if we are fully booked.

Does the clinic bulk bill?

We are a private billing clinic and do not routinely bulk bill. Our fees can be found here.

How do I request a prescription or referral?

You can request a script/referral via the following (fees apply):

We no longer accept requests for scripts/referrals via phone or email.

Am I able to book a long consultation and when is this necessary?

Yes, longer consultations are available and are required if you have multiple issues to discuss, if you have paperwork to complete with the doctor or require any procedures/vaccinations. Long consultations are also required for Mental Health Plans.

Are there facilities for non-English/poor English speaking patients?

Yes, please let us know in advance and we will organise a translator to be present via the telephone.

Can I get my test results without an appointment?

To obtain a copy of your results or to discuss your results, an appointment with your doctor is required (fees apply). You can book a Telehealth/phone appointment or Face to Face appointment via our website or AMS connect app.

Please note; Reception staff and nurses are not authorised to provide results or advise if results have been received. You will be contacted by your doctor or one of our nurses if your results require urgent attention.

Do you have pathology services?

Yes, we offer pathology services through Melbourne Pathology.

The pathology opening hours are:

  • Mondays – Fridays: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Private fees may apply for some pathology tests. Please check with the Pathology Collector.

How do Patients Aged 16-18 Years old get their results?

All patients aged 16 years and above are required to obtain their results themselves, either via a Telehealth/phone appointment or a Face to Face appointment. Parents, guardians are not able to obtain on their behalf unless with written consent, signed by the patient.

Can I speak to my doctor on the telephone?

Yes, you can speak to your doctor via the Telephone if you book a Telehealth/phone appointment. All discussions with your doctor constitute a consultation and require an appointment.

What do I do in an emergency when the clinic is closed?

If you have a medical emergency please call an ambulance on 000 or attend your closest Emergency Department.

Are my medical records private?

Inkerman Medical Group is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of your personal health information. Your medical record is a confidential document. 

How will I know when I’m due for my next test/yearly check-up?

We send secure SMS to remind you when you are due for routine test e.g. Cervical Screening, yearly blood test etc. You are required to press on the link in the SMS and enter your details to view the text of the SMS.

What do I do if I need a Doctor to visit me at home and your clinic is closed?

DoctorDoctor provides Medical Deputising Services to General Practice and provides community access to bulk billed in home after hours medical care, including telehealth consultations, for unexpected illness.  They operate weekdays from 6pm to 8am, weekends from 12 noon Saturday to 8am Monday morning and all day on Public Holidays.
